Downtown Business Incentive Grant

SUMMARY

The Downtown Business Incentive Grant (DBIG) program is financed through a grant obtained by Mainstreet Waynesboro, Inc. from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

DBIG is intended to provide financial incentives encouraging businesses to locate downtown and compete favorably against malls and big box retailers.

DBIG can provide rent rebates for a new business or for an existing business that expands its operating or retail space.

There is also a one-time grant to assist with the purchase of a building as an alternative to rent rebates.

DBIG can help an eligible business with any combination of rehabilatation, build-out, inventory or equipment purchase.

There are several requirements for the Downtown Business Incentive Grant.  The first being the business must be located on Main Street in Waynesboro, between Fairview Avenue and Clayton Avenue or be willing to locate within those borders.

Second, the grantee must contribute a minimum of 20% of the total project cost.

Additionally, the new or expanding business must create at least one new full-time position and maintain hours convenient to consumers, specifically to be open until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

This grant is an outstanding opportunity for anyone willing to work for the success of a business.

Retail businesses, restaurants, professional services and lodging facilities all qualify for the grant.

Preference will be given to those businesses that enhance or complement the existing business mix.

Store spaces available to rent can be viewed on this website.
