Mission
of MSW:
Promote economic growth and
revitalization in Downtown Waynesboro.
MSW will accomplish this mission by (1) marketing our downtown and
surrounding community to new consumers and businesses (2) developing programs
to promote/assist our current downtown businesses and property owners and (3)
providing support to our surrounding communities.
Duties
& Responsibilities:
¤ Implement
business recruitment and retention efforts
¤ Develop
and conduct ongoing public awareness and educational programs
¤ Research
and identify new government and private funding prospects
¤ Prepare
proposals and grant applications for funding sources
¤ Initiate
and coordinate fundraising campaigns
¤ Represent
MSW with local and state government officials
¤ Attend
Borough Council meetings and other community organization meetings as needed to
stay abreast of on-going issues
¤ Develop
good working relationships with local media contacts
¤ Act
as a communication link between committees to ensure that all four points of MSWÕs approach are synchronized by attending MSWÕs Committee meetings as needed, based on job
responsibilities, including but not limited to Economic Restructuring and
Fundraising Committees.
¤ Prepare
and submit required monthly reports to State agencies.
¤ Provide
support to other staff members as needed and as time allows.
¤ Perform
all other duties as assigned by the Board President and/or Organization
Committee
Qualifications:
¤ MOST
IMPORTANTLY – Must be a full-time supporter and advocate of the
downtown district and MSW.
¤ Should
be a self-starter, capable of working in independent situations, creative,
entrepreneurial and well-organized.
¤ Should
be diplomatic – able to work well with a wide variety of people, including
but not limited to, current and potential downtown businesses, real estate
agents and developers, property owners, MSW members, borough officials and
other community organizations
¤ Should
be able to motivate/facilitate
¤ Should
be able to resolve interpersonal conflicts
¤ Should
be very adaptable
¤ Should
be capable of fitting into the community, while also bringing new ideas and a
fresh approach
¤ Excellent
writing, computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) and database management skills
